BAL Marketing was founded over forty years ago by Bernard A. Levine as a full service Food Brokerage company covering the New York Metropolitan area. Current President Bill Markov and Vice-President John Lintz joined Bernie in 1989 and Bernie worked with Bill and John until his retirement.
Dave Levey and Irv Moskowitz of Irving Sales Horizons joined forces with BAL Marketing in early 1998. Their addition provided us with an expanded sales force as well as product diversification. This product diversification was further enhanced in 2002 when Leon Bernstein of Bernco Sales Corporation brought his many years of industry association and assorted principals into our company. Both Leon & Irv worked with us until their retirement. Third generation salesman Matt Markov (Bernie’s grandson) joined our sales force in spring, 2006, and 2nd generation salesman Ken Levey joined us in 2012.
BAL Marketing is well respected and well known in the Food service and Paper/Plastic industry as a result of the personalized service we provide to both our customers and principals. Regular visits to customers and complete follow through on all orders from placement to shipment to payment; demonstrate how we strive to represent our principals with the same service that we provide to our customers... courteous, consistent and thorough.
Although our Food Service division specializes in Rice, Beans, Grains and Peanut Butter, we occasionally have the ability to source unique requests when a customer is in need. Our Paper and Plastics division ranges from Wax Paper & Plastic Food Packaging to Can Liners & Cleaning Chemicals. We are fully computerized which enables us to track customers usage and to detect any trends in purchasing that may need special attention. Our customer base includes major supermarket chains, wholesale grocers, food service distributors, janitorial distributors, manufacturers and repackers. With our existing product line we have a strong presence within the Asian and Hispanic markets.
